In our upcoming release, we've completely redesigned how you navigate Synergy, introduced Customisable Invoice Email Templates, and have a new field for Purchase Order numbers on invoices.

New Side Navigation

Building on the new project navigation released in June, we’re making it faster and easier to find what you need in Synergy.

This new navigation is the most significant change since Synergy Cloud was released. It aims to create a more intuitive and efficient way for you to access key features and information and provide a seamless connection between global and page-level navigation.

We’ve redesigned the navigation in Synergy to make it faster and easier to get around. The old Organisation menu will be be replaced with a new side bar that helps you:

  • Find what you need quicker – everything is grouped into clear sections like Time & Expenses, Projects, Staff, and Financials.

  • Work the way you want – pin the menu open or collapse it to maximise space.

  • Stay on track – your current page and section are always highlighted.

  • Jump straight to Settings – switch organisations, manage templates, and connect apps, all from the bottom menu.

We’ve also added a search bar in Settings, so you can instantly find the page you need.

This update is part of our work to modernise Synergy and give you a smoother, more intuitive experience with further enhancements planned this year.

Detailed Breakdown

Permissions & visibility

  • Menu items respect user security permissions, plan level, and active add-ons.

Pinning & collapsing

  • The side bar can be pinned and unpinned by clicking the docking icon (top right of the menu).

  • When pinned → stays visible on all pages.

  • When unpinned → collapses by default; expands on hover.

Primary navigation (full list)

  • Dashboard – home

  • Time & Expenses – Time, Cash, Travel, Summary

  • Projects – Projects List, Project Planning, Project Performance, Kanban, Inbox Assistant, Synergy CRM, To-Dos, Notes

  • Staff – Staff List, Resourcing Planning, Staff Availability, Leave Calendar

  • Financials – Invoices, Invoice Payments, Purchase Orders, Bills, Office Expenses, Revenue Forecasting

  • Reports

  • Contacts

Organisation menu

  • Groups have been reorganised, putting Project related settings under "Projects", Financial settings under "Financial" etc.

  • All sections are expandable/collapsible for easier scanning.

  • Search bar at the top of the Organisation Menu to search by page name.

Other Changes

  • “Applications” → now Third Party Applications

  • “Connect to Accounting” → now grouped under Organisation Settings

  • “Data Imports” → now its own group in Organisation Settings


Invoice Email Templates

This is the most popular item in our Feedback Forum.

Availability

  • Available on Business and Enterprise plans

  • Enterprise plans can remove the Total Synergy footer for a fully branded experience

Introducing a new way to manage your invoice emails in Synergy — you can now create and customise reusable templates.

This update helps you:

  • Save time by creating and re-using multiple invoice email templates

  • Keep things consistent by setting default templates at Organisation, Office, Project, or Contact level

  • Personalise messages with dynamic bookmarks like [ProjectName], [InvoiceNumber], and [DueDate]

  • Format your email content with Markdown for headings, bold, italics, bullet points, and links

  • Use the same templates for both single invoice emails and bulk sends

  • For Enterprise customers, remove the Synergy footer for a fully branded experience

PO Numbers

You can now add and manage a dedicated Customer PO Number on your invoices. This helps ensure your invoices reference the correct purchase order (sometimes known as a Customer Reference Number) for your customer, making it easier for them to process payments.

Customer PO Number will be available in the following areas:

  • Draft Invoice screen

  • Edit Finalised Invoice modal (from Invoice List > Edit invoice)

  • Reports

    • Report Column (Under Invoices > Invoice Customer PO Number)

    • Filter by Customer PO Number

  • Invoice List Exports

  • Template bookmark:

    • Document Template bookmark [Invoice Customer PO Number]

    • Invoice Email Template bookmark [CustomerPONumber]
