You can search for a staff member when you need to assign them to a to-do using the filter in the Kanban board. Just click the to-do to open the right panel, and start searching the name.

It's a smart filter so the list will update as you type.

You can also use the filter in the main board, eg searching Alistor will show all cards with Alistor across all projects.
