You might be wondering... "what are cookies, besides delicious when they're full of chocolate chips?"
A cookie is a small text file that stores information about a user's interaction with a website or application. When you visit the platform again, cookies allow the platform to recognise your browser and support secure access, session continuity, and a more efficient user experience.
Cookies set by Total Synergy are referred to as first-party cookies. Cookies set by parties other than Total Synergy are referred to as third-party cookies. Third-party cookies enable third-party functionality to be provided through the platform, such as authentication, payment processing, analytics, or embedded services. These third parties may recognise your device both when it interacts with our platform and when it visits other websites.
Cookies do not give us access to your computer or device, or to any information other than information about how you use our platform and the personal information you choose to share with us.
Accepting Cookies via the Login Page
This is where you'll first see the option to accept cookies for Total Synergy.
The primary interface for cookie consent appears on the login page and includes:
Consent options: Three buttons allowing users to Accept All, Decline, or Manage preferences

Accepts both essential and non-essential cookies (Necessary and Analytics)
Decline
Accepts only essential cookies (required for Synergy to function)

Cookie Management
You have the right to decide whether to accept or reject optional cookies. Essential cookies are always enabled and cannot be disabled as they are necessary for the platform to function.
Click the "Cookie Settings" button on the banner for a detailed modal that provides granular control over cookie categories.

Necessary cookies (Essential, always required, cannot be disabled)

These cookies help us to understand how visitors engage with the application. We may use a set of cookies to collect information and report site usage statistics. Our application does not use functionality cookies. All features necessary for the site to operate are provided through essential cookies only, which are always enabled to ensure proper functionality
Action buttons:
Accept All: Turns ON all essential and non-essential cookie categories, saves preferences, and dismisses both the modal and banner
Save Settings: Saves only the categories that have been toggled ON, dismisses both modal and banner
X (Close): Exits the modal without saving changes, returning you to the previous screen with the banner still visible
Clear descriptions: Each cookie category includes information about what it does and how it enhances the user experience
This modal has been designed to ensure you understand exactly what you're consenting to and have full control over your preferences.
Ongoing Cookie Preference Management
For ongoing management of your cookie preference after initial consent, you can access cookie settings through your Profile Settings anytime.
Cookie Settings:
Under your profile image, click "Manage Cookies" to open the same modal as on the login page.
Enable/Disable cookies and save.
Changes are applied instantly.

How Your Preferences are Managed
Cookie preferences are stored in our database, linked to your account.
Browser-level storage remembers consent decisions, even before logging in (using essential cookies).
Saved preferences persist across all devices once you've logged in.
If you have previously provided consent, the system recognises this and won't show the banner again.
You'll only be asked (via the Cookie Banner) to consent when consent is needed, or has expired, such as:
Our Privacy Policy is updated, requiring users to re-consent.
Browser history/cookies have been cleared, removing stored preferences.
Your consent record has been deemed invalid or outdated.
