Dashboard Explained

Project profitability excluding billable WIP, sliced by office and tracked monthly. Profitability Analysis identifies when a month that looks profitable on the surface is actually inflated by unbilled work sitting in WIP rather than cash that has been collected.

How to use it

If GP% looks healthy but the Debtors and WIP balances are growing, the profitability is paper — the work has been done but not billed. Use this dashboard to distinguish between offices that are genuinely profitable and those that are deferring revenue. Pair with Finance Overview to cross-check whether WIP is ageing or being invoiced on a predictable cycle.

Understanding your data

Key Fields

How it's Calculated

Gross Profit %

Invoiced revenue minus total staff costs, divided by invoiced revenue. Staff costs are calculated as hours worked × cost rate per staff member. Billable WIP is excluded from the calculation

Invoiced Revenue

Total value of finalised invoices for the period

Total Staff Cost

Sum of (hours worked × cost rate) for all staff contributing to invoiced work in the period. Cost rates must be set up in Total Synergy for accurate results

Gross Profit $

Invoiced revenue minus total staff cost in absolute dollar terms

Project Status

Used to filter which projects are included — typically Active and Complete projects are included; Proposals are excluded
