WIP Analysis

Learn about the WIP Analysis Dashboard

Edition: Business + Insights Pro Add-on, Enterprise + Insights Pro Add-on
User-level: Permissions are set at an Organisation level by System Administrators
Who this is for: Finance team, principals, project managers

Dashboard Explained

Live WIP value by project, manager, and office with full granular ageing. WIP Analysis is the month-end tool for identifying what's invoiceable, understanding how long work has been sitting unbilled, and building the data backing for any WIP write-up decisions.

Updated in Insights Pro: This dashboard existed in Analytics Plus as "Aged WIP by Ageing Category" with a PM/Client/Project breakdown, and has been substantially redesigned for Insights Pro.

How to use it

At month-end, sort the table by the oldest aged buckets to find the highest-priority unbilled work. Anything sitting in the oldest buckets should have a decision made — invoice, write off, or document why it's being held. Use the Slice → Project → Project Manager drill-down to confirm whether WIP sits on a stage with remaining fee available. Cross-reference with Prebill Analysis for work that hasn't yet been billed but is scheduled for the coming month.
