Dashboard Explained
Project-by-project resource allocation across forward weeks. Forward Loading is the operational resourcing view — it shows how each project's demand is distributed across the schedule and which projects are competing for the same staff in the same weeks.
How to use it
Use Forward Loading in weekly resourcing meetings to review the specific allocation of staff to projects in the coming weeks. If a staff member has over 100% allocation in a week, identify which projects are competing for them and decide whether one can be re-sequenced. If a project has no allocations for an upcoming week but is expected to be active, alert the PM to update the resource plan. Changes should be made in Total Synergy so they are reflected in the next day's data refresh.
Understanding your data
Key Fields | How it's Calculated |
Allocated Hours (by Project, by Week) | Hours assigned to each project stage in the resource plan for each forward week, attributed to the staff member allocated |
Staff Allocation (by Project) | The specific staff members allocated to each project stage in each week, drawn from Total Synergy's resource plan |
Total Allocation per Staff (Weekly) | Sum of all allocated hours across all projects for each staff member in each week. Used to identify individuals who are over-allocated across multiple projects |
Project Start / End Dates | Planned start and end dates for each project stage from Total Synergy, used to frame the Gantt-style forward loading view |
Allocation vs Available % | Total allocated hours for each staff member in each week as a percentage of their available hours. Values over 100% indicate over-allocation |
