How do I connect to the Windows file server?

Updated over 8 months ago

To connect to the Windows file server, follow these steps.

  1. Go to Organisation menu > Connect to PIM

  2. Click the "Windows File Server" tab

  3. Toggle the 'Enable connect and start integration'.

  4. There is an additional setting 'Enable syncing different office directories to different servers'.

If ticked, each of the project directories will go to a specific queue per office. An on-premise, office file sync process downloads them.

If left unticked, each of the project directories will go to the same queue for all the offices. An on-premise, office file sync process downloads them.

4. You can choose how you would like the folder will be created. There are four options:

  • Project number

  • Project name

  • Project number and name

  • Project name and number

  • Project number and reference

5. Once set up, if you want to change the location to a new folder path for a new year etc. You will need to check the following box - 'Do not create folders for prior years' projects'

This will ensure that only new projects created will go to the new folder path and that the previous project folders won't be duplicated.

Note: If the organisation chooses one sync, and then changes options, the old projects will have the folder name format of how it was initially imported, and the new sync will have the most recent folder name format. Any modification in the cloud of a folder project already synced will create a new folder with the new format. This means, that the project folder will be duplicated with different name formats. So, we suggest that the organisation choose one definitive option before the synchronisation.
