Dashboard Explained
Monthly chargeable utilisation trended by office, role and individual. Utilisation Trend is the historical performance view — it shows whether utilisation is improving or declining over time and enables comparison between offices, grades, and target.
How to use it
Use Utilisation Trend in monthly leadership reviews to report on resourcing efficiency. Compare the rolling average against target to determine whether the firm is broadly on track. If one office is consistently below target while others are on or above, investigate whether that office has a project pipeline gap or a resourcing composition issue (too many senior staff, insufficient project demand at their level). Cross-reference with Capacity Planning to understand whether the trend is likely to continue or reverse.
Understanding your data
Key Fields | How it's Calculated |
Monthly Chargeable Utilisation % | Total chargeable hours in each month divided by total available hours for the same month, expressed as a percentage |

Target Utilisation Line | The firm's or office's set utilisation target, shown as a horizontal reference line on the trend chart |
Utilisation by Grade (Monthly) | Chargeable utilisation broken down by staff grade or role for each month. Identifies whether utilisation gaps are concentrated in specific seniority levels |
